Enugu First Lady Hosts Special Celebration Honouring the State’s Children, Affirming Their Boundless Potential

In a jubilant display of colour, energy, and youthful promise, the First Lady of Enugu State, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, in collaboration with the Custos Care Foundation, hosted a lively follow-up to the 2025 Children’s Day celebration, drawing more than 1,000 schoolchildren from all 17 local government areas across the state.
The event, held as a continuation of the official Children’s Day programme, was a bold expression of the administration’s growing focus on child development, creativity, and education. With dance, competition, innovation showcases, and heartfelt affirmations, the children were placed at the very centre of the day’s proceedings—not only as celebrants, but as the future stewards of the state’s destiny.
The First Lady, represented by Mrs Chinyere Ugwu, wife of the Honourable Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, delivered a stirring message to the children:
“you are powerful little seeds destined to grow into strong trees, beautiful flowers, or fruits that make a difference in the world.”
She urged the children to dream boldly and assured them of the many paths their futures might take — whether as doctors, teachers, artists, engineers, or leaders shaping the destiny of Enugu State and beyond and reminded adults present that the collective responsibility of nurturing those dreams begins with strong values, safe environments, and access to quality education and nourishment.
The celebration opened with a dynamic dance performance led by children and teachers, each representing their local governments, setting a tone of unity and shared joy. Barr. Chidimma Egeonu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, welcomed participants with a message underscoring the state’s commitment to child welfare.
Students dazzled the crowd with a well-coordinated march past, followed by a Children’s Beauty Pageant where each LGA presented a confident and creative representative. The children’s intellect was also centre-stage during a lively quiz competition, which tested their knowledge and showcased their sharpness.
A standout of the day was the exhibition segment, featuring imaginative science models, handmade crafts, and artistic works—each project a reflection of the ingenuity and spirit being fostered within Enugu’s schools.

Mrs Mbah concluded with a charge to both the children and the adults entrusted with their care:
“With the right support and opportunities, your possibilities are truly endless. You are the architects of tomorrow.”
All participants were treated to food, gifts, and prizes, with winners recognised across various categories. In attendance were several dignitaries including Rt. Hon.
